baking soda

so, with christmas cookies being made and stuff, I was thinking about baking soda.

THEN! I was watching E!s top 100 funny movies and there was a commercial for... baking soda! And it was talking about Baking soda being strong enough to clean the statue of liberty but good enough for homemade cookies... and people use it to brush their teeth???

what IS this stuff??

what would you do?

So - here's my assignment from class:

"You are standing on an overpass, over a train track with another person.

Down the track, within sight but out of earshot is a group of little (Deaf) kindergartners playing on the track.

A train is rushing towards them.

If you push off the person standing next to you, you save those 20 kindergartners. If not, they die.

What do you do and WHY?"

ovay. I don't know.

I woke up this morning signing. You know that sleepy-fuzz time that you feel yourself slipping into before you actually fall asleep? Well, I was hanging out there this morning and I was ... I don't know... but I was signing and I knew I was signing but I couldn't stop because I couldn't ... talk.

THEN, I'm such an idiot. ugh

'ever played scrabble with a D guy? yeah, didn't think so. oy.

BUT! I found the purple egg!

Saide Freakin' Hawkins

SO - tonight was shaping up to be the *worst* night ever. BUT - thank goodness! - it was one of the best I've had in a LONG time. Thank God for the Welsch boys, they've saved my life more than once.

TWO MONTHS ago Phi Theta Kappa decided that it would do it's annual Turkey Raffle this today (Sat., Nov. 18) (( yesterday - whatever)). TWO MONTHS ago. I had an OAD meeting I had to go to for a class, though, so I have been reiterating that I wasn't going to be there. TWO MONTHS. One person is the ONLY one who remembers and bothers to show up. I couldn't even get a hold of my VP. REALLY? Great teamwork here! AND I have NO idea how it went because no one bothered to call me afterwards. AGH!

THREE WEEKS AGO an announcement is made at church that this Saturday was going to be a Sadie Hawkins Turkey Trot - you have to have a date. GREAT. I do FINE if no one calls, I tend to be busy and not notice but it sure is wonderful for my self esteem to be turned down 5 or 6 times by people who really aren't even my first choice. Thanks.

Speaking of First Choices -- oh man! Still madly in love with *****. Nuts and of course I can't ask him, I just keep thinking: One semester, One month and one week -- hell yes. UNO here I come.

LAST WEEK, monday, actually a guy that I tutor for tells me he's failing a class and yadda yadda yadda and what can he do? So I seyz to him: you MUST go the OAD meeting and write a paper. MUST. If you need a ride CALL ME. SO - he calls. Damn, don't have the $ but already offered. Okay. Drive ALL the way over to school ~ where I set up the stuff for the aforementioned turkey raffle because NO ONE was there yet ~ and he calls me (while I am on campus) "Oh, I don't need a ride." AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

(I am NOT feeling well, anyway! Come on!)

So we get down to OAD - he followed me - and the place is packed. And what's the first thing I do? Oh, make Cody cry. Great.

(He was really not feeling all that great, either, so, it was bound to happen but - I felt terrible)

and now I am ready to leave. ( g o g r e e n m o n s t e r ! )
Need to be there - already paid to get in.....
but I am not staying.

whatever. yes I am..

WHY do I live in a "MUST, SHOULD" world? WHY????

Luckily! I stayed. Thank God. Thank God. I am always shocked when Heavenly Father looks down and says, "Hey, let's give Meg some love."

I finally got through the line and my seat had been taken. Nice - so, I go down to the basement. (Whoo hoo, never been there before) and .... Mecca! All the kids were down there and it was bedlam. and it was great. I got to talk to people, I hung out with people and I was .... it was wonderful.

So, slowly more and more kids start to come down (there were some-- nay, there were a couple of toys) and more and more adults started to head up stairs. At one point there were 4 ITP students, a graduate, her Deaf husband and BW=== and 30 kids. I looked over at BW and said, "um, can we play a game, or something. I've never witnessed an actual example of mayhem before!" and he was like, "try it" ---- and so I did. And I had a blast.

It was funny because prior to me starting the games (and Heather helped -- she rocks) I had said, "It's like Lord of the Flies," and he said, "All they need is the war paint." It's great fun to have fun conversations with people.

So, the Welsch trio left and we just kept right on playing. I think it made the Parents upstairs nervous because right after he left four or five came down -- "Just checking" and were AWED (okay, maybe not) by my organized atmosphere of fun. (what drivvel!) (( is that spelled right?) anyway -- we played and played and I looked at my watch and it was a quarter after midnight.

Two fingers to YOU, Sadie Hawkins! Tonight was the best!
